Smile Linux firewall

Hi,
I have installed a Debian 3.0 with kernel version 2.4.18. I have ADSL connection. I can use the machine as gateway for internet connection with the help of ipmasquerading. Now i want to setup a firewall so that i can secure my interanet. I was trying with "fwbuilder" but seems little bit complicated. Can some body suggest me which one will be better and easier to setup and maintain??

many thanks in advance
Best regards

http://freshmeat.net/redir/ipkungfu/...-0.5.2.tar.bz2

download that. then

Code:
bzip2 -d ipkungfu-0.5.2.tar.bz2
tar xvf ipkungfu-0.5.2.tar
cd ipkungfu-0.5.2
read INSTALL and README in that directory. should help you get everything up and running.

Hi Again,
I have installed the ipkungfu successfully. The confusion is that As i understood that i can specify the forward rules for hosts/ports/protocols in "forward.config" which can access my interanet.
But i want to secure ports from internal network to outer world. I want to specify the rules for interanet so that they can talk to outer world with only my specified ports.
for exmaple i want that i can disable access on port 25 (SMTP) so that no application should be able to use this port. Where can i specify such rules.
Can you help me once again!!!!
thanks in advance
Best Regards

A really nice gui for firewall configuration is firestarter http://firestarter.sourceforge.net. You can apt-get it though. I have used it for some time no. Not only does it setup the ip/udp port but also sysctl parameters for enhancing performance of the tcp protocol.

FireHOL

Read the sticky Debian Configuration Post-Install and subsequent postings, in them, you will see a posting by Dead Parrot in which he explains how to install Firehol, it is launched from the terminal and it takes 5 minutes to set up, reboot and check it against Shields Up, at grc.com, for open ports. That's what the sticky is there for.
