Please be more specific. How are you trying to open the file and with which program?

Turbocapitalist is definitely right, nobody can help you until you provide more context.
In addition to what have been asked: is there any error output?

Maybe, in a terminal,
Code:
cat text.txt | less
But more info really needed, as much as you can, to get a better reply.

First Kali Linux is not Debian Linux, it's BASED on Debian - that doesn't mean it's the same distribution, it's not. They are separate distributions, developed separately to each other.

If you cannot even open a "large file", then how would you have the skills for Kali's intended purposes ?

Please read this and waste Kali's forum's time instead. You don't even include proper information.

Leave, just leave and go back to whatever distro worked for you before.

These days I find the calibre of new users on many a Debian-based distro - including Debian itself - to be utterly depressing.
