I've been attempting to upgrade from Woody to Sarge for two days and keep having the same problem.
As I understand it, the correct way to upgrade is to change the sources list to use the "Testing" directory and then do "apt-get dist-upgrade." This seems to work without a problem, however when I reboot after the upgrade, instead of seeing "LILO 22.2..." at the first boot screen I see "LI" and the computer hangs. Is there some configuration I need to do BEFORE I reboot?
Needless to say, I have to reinstall Woody and start over. One concern that I have is the logic behind upgrading a running system. That doesn't make sense to me. Is there a way to make a bootable CD or floppy that has the necessary apps to do an upgrade?
I have also tried to install sarge from a CD but always get various errors and it won't install.
If any one can offer advice or can point to a website for an explanation, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
