Libranet is a "customized" debian system, it has a few of their own tools and their installer added to debian. I have been using libranet for several years and like it a lot.

As far as getting help here, yes libranet is pretty much debian, BTW (libranet also has a forum). As far as packages, libranet is built with debian packages so any debian package from the proper repository (stable, testing, or unstable) should work with no problems.

I'm using libranet 2.0 Essentials (free download) on three or four machines with a variety of backported packages (check out www.backport.org and www.apt-get.org) on the stable (woody) machines.

thanks. i sort of figured out that the debian packages would work. yea, i really like libranet, it makes installing packages very nice. i just intalled realplayer 8 on libtranet 2.7, also went to
http://www.kde-look.org and got a couple of nice looking desktop wallpapers. did you get the later version, like 2.81?
