Lexmark Z600 Dead

Hi
I have a Lexmark Z600 USB printer connected to my PC. I have installed it and configured and when i try to print out something the printer won't do it. When i look at the printer jobs the queue says that the job has been canceled. When i try to re-run the job i get some kind of client error

any help ?

Have you got a driver for this printer? What printing system are you trying to use? Cups?

I looked here http://www.linuxprinting.org/printer...i?make=Lexmark and they do not show support for that printer.

i'm using CUPS and downloaded some kind of a driver, it works on Fedora(2 and 3) and Mandrake(9.0, 9.1, 10.0, 10.1 comunity and official), and I know that because i've tried out all of this distros and got the printer running on them , but doesn't want to work on Slackware and Debian. Gosh I always knew that my printer is a great one :)

Just follow these instructions (they're for the X1100 series, but they use the same driver, and this is how I got mine working). The important item is the secret '-keep' option, which unpacks the files into a directory. From there, you simply rpm2tgz them, install the ppd files in the correct location for cups to find them, and then tell cups about your printer. Once it's installed, you can use 'localhost:631' in your browser to adjust the printer's setup as you like.

And, I agree, what a pain in the butt. While it's nice they provide a driver at all, it would have been nice for them to document small, important items like this, or mention that the driver works for several different printer families.

Still, you can get it running, and it works fine, at least on 2.4 kernels (haven't tried it on a 2.6 kernel, was thinking about doing so this coming weekend if I have time).
