Lexmark Z11 under Woody Debian: Unable to print.

I've got problems runnig my Lexmark printer under Debian.
This is my uncomented section of /etc/printcap.

Code:
lp|Lexmark: printer entry:\
        :lp=/dev/lp0:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\
        :af=/var/log/lp-acct:\
        :lf=/var/log/lp-errs:\
        :pl#66:\
        :pw#80:\
        :pc#150:\
        :mx#0:\
        :sh:
(No smileys, is just two dots and letter p).

This is the 'ls /dev/lp* -la' output:

Code:
crw-rw---- 1 root lp 6, 0 Mar 14 2002 /dev/lp0
crw-rw---- 1 root lp 6, 1 Mar 14 2002 /dev/lp1
crw-rw---- 1 root lp 6, 2 Mar 14 2002 /dev/lp2
...and this is the 'ps ax| grep lpd' output:

Code:
 219 ? S 0:00 /usr/sbin/lpd
 715 pts/0 S 0:00 grep lpd
...which means that process lpd is running with pid 219 (printer daemon, I suppose).

However if I type -as root- "cat/etc/printcap > /dev/lp1" (for instance) it outputs
Code:
bash: /dev/lp1: No such device or address
, just the same with lp2.

With lp0, however, nothing happens. Only a few seconds and the prompt again. This is because the work requested is being written to the printing spool path.

Anybody has a clue on what is going on?
