Lenny won't get ntfs-3g from depository

HI. I'm new to Debian having used RH and variants for years and Ubuntu for about 6 months.

I have a weekly build of Lenny (June 5th) which has been working well until I tried to mount a LaCie 1TB drive. Got message `cannot mount ntfs-3g filesystem'

I requested the ntfs-3g packages from synaptic but got the following:

W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/pool...310-1_i386.deb
404 Not Found

W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/pool...310-1_i386.deb
404 Not Found

Can someone tell me how to interpret this? Does it mean:

-- the packages aren't available at all

-- they're not available for this build. I should not be expecting a weekly build of testing to work perfectly.

-- the debian mirror is temporarily down

-- ?

I'll be grateful for a guidance. Thanks!

Take a look at http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/pool/main/n/ntfs-3g/ and you'll see what the problem is.

apt-get update or in synaptic reload

Thanks Tredegar, Takla,

I did the reload and got the downloads and all seems to be fine now.

I guess I got used to Ubuntu's constant updates and didn't realize the need to do reloads of synaptic in debian.

I'm glad to not have to reformat the LaCie.

Thanks again.

You can have the same behaviour in Debian as in Ubuntu if you install update-notifier and update manager.
