Lenny won't get ntfs-3g from depository
HI. I'm new to Debian having used RH and variants for years and Ubuntu for about 6 months.
I have a weekly build of Lenny (June 5th) which has been working well until I tried to mount a LaCie 1TB drive. Got message `cannot mount ntfs-3g filesystem' I requested the ntfs-3g packages from synaptic but got the following: W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/pool...310-1_i386.deb 404 Not Found W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/pool...310-1_i386.deb 404 Not Found Can someone tell me how to interpret this? Does it mean: -- the packages aren't available at all -- they're not available for this build. I should not be expecting a weekly build of testing to work perfectly. -- the debian mirror is temporarily down -- ? I'll be grateful for a guidance. Thanks! |
Take a look at http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/pool/main/n/ntfs-3g/ and you'll see what the problem is.

apt-get update or in synaptic reload

Thanks Tredegar, Takla,
I did the reload and got the downloads and all seems to be fine now. I guess I got used to Ubuntu's constant updates and didn't realize the need to do reloads of synaptic in debian. I'm glad to not have to reformat the LaCie. Thanks again. |
