Lenny stops when booting up system. Ctrl-D to continue.

Hi!

Since yesterday, during boot up process, my system stops and displays the following message:

Quote:
Give Root password for maintenance or
type CTRL-D to continue.
If I press CTRL-D, everything continues normally but I want my system to boot up normally without stopping.

Why you think this message is appearing and what should I do to avoid pressing CTRL-D to continue booting it?

Thanks in advance,

Well, just above is the error that made Lenny stop booting in the first place... Fix that and you're done

Are you sure you're not booting into single-user mode?.

Thanks! You were right. I don't know why (I can't figure it out) but my menu.lst changed so my default booting option changed to single user and some grub stanzas and parameters also dissapeared (for instance the one pointing to Slackware). Everything went back to a default menu.lst. How can this be possible? Now I rebuilt menu.lst and everything works fine again.

Thanks again,

during an up grade your menu.1st was changed and this tells me you are running a dual boot system and the grub was not changed to point to the new kernel or upgraded kernel.
