Hi All

I setup samba 3 and configure it for my windows xp prof. clients and it is work very good,Now I would like install and configure LDAP server for Central authentication.I do the following steps:

1-Install slapd ldap-utils by apt-get install slapd ldap-utils command in debian sarge,when ask me for dns domain name i enter and my root ldap password then i tell i don't ldapv2 and want ldapv3 and it it install and finished

I know i must change slapd.conf, ldap.conf,libnss-ldap,nsswitch.conf,libpam-ldap.conf,...... ,but i don't know witch of files i change on server and witch of files must change in my clients.
sometime i change above files on my server and when restarting it is hangup,if possible for you please help me step by step for changing and configuring files on appreciate machine(server or client).

Take a look at the samba 3 howto collection and samba 3 by example from They have step by step examples of how to get this setup working.
