Lack of qt3libs?? Unacceptable ! PLZ Help

I'm using Debian 3.0r1 unstable version, running on a 2.4.22 self-compiled kernel. i'm trying to compile a program but all what i get everytime is

checking for Qt... configure: error Qt:(>= 3.1 (20021021)) (library qt-mt) not found. Please check your installation. For more details about this problem look at the end of config.log.
Make sure that you have compiled Qt with thread support.

What am i supposed to do ? I upgraded to unstable last week and everything worked fine (including kde 3.1.4) until now. I have qt3 (when i try to compile with use of arguments --with-qt-lib=DIR it spits out the same error. I have the qt-mt (thread support) libs in /usr/share/qt3/lib ... still no progress...
plz help

thx

I can think of a couple things. First, make sure the development packages for Qt are installed, including libqt3-mt-dev.

Second, some autoconfed packages can't find Qt on Debian systems, you may have to use ./configure --with-qt-dir=/usr/share/qt3/
