Keyboard problem while installing squeeze.

I'm finally upgrading to squeeze and I'm having some keyboard issues with the installer. When the installer opens to the language selection, my keyboard (wireless, usb) fails to work. This is a laptop I'm using, and the laptop's keyboard works...but due to a motherboard issue certain keys don't work so I must use a usb keyboard.

How can I make my usb keyboard work? It works fine while installing lenny and it works fine within lenny, so what could be the problem? I had this problem when squeeze first came out so I waited in hopes that it would be fixed by now, but it's not. Any help?

You could try upgrading from Lenny to Squeeze, instead of doing a fresh install.

Thanks. I got tired of searching for answers so I did a fresh lenny install then upgraded. I'll leave this thread unsolved in case someone finds an answer.

This may have to do with the fact that installing the x-server no longer involves configuring the xorg.conf file. It is done automatically. One possible solution is to take the keyboard section from the working Lenny and use it in Squeeze (creating an xorg.conf file in none exists) and see if that helps.
