Unhappy Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:01

Hello all:

I am a Newbie to Debian. When I recompile the kernel(2.4.22).
All looks fine. But when I reboot it. It said:

I saw many articles. They said that because my SCSI controller has not been compiled in the kernel. But I do. I'm sure I do that.

Who can help me. I have tried for 1 week.

Thank every body

Did you compile things in as modules ? I suggest you boot off with the standard kernel and install kernel-package. It will save you time, etc :-)

Thank you very much. I upgraded my kernel to 2.4.18-1-686. But I want to do it by myself. And I want to know what happened in this situation I met.

I had the same problem, I used an ex3fs and did not compile the support for it in the kernel...
