Kernel Panic

Ok, soem background info:
-I have an AMD XP-M proc
-SiS graphics card
-Tried to upgrade from i386 kernel to K7 with version 2.6.8. I still have i386 installed as well as K7 (and they both appear on GRUB menu). However, when I try to boot up K7, here is what I get (and no, I really have no idea what this means):

pciehp: acpi_pciehprm:get_device PCI ROOT HID fail=0x5
modprobe: FATAL: Error inserting pciehp (/lib/modules/2.6.8-1-K7/kernel/
drivers/pci/hotplug/pciehp.ko): Operation not permitted

Kernel Panic: Unable to continue

Ok, a few thoughts. I netinst debian with the 2.4 kernel. I then used synaptic to install the 2.6.8 i386 kernel. Then, logged in as 2.6.8 i386 I used synaptic to completely remove kernel 2.4 and install 2.6.8 K7. I should note that when I choose to completely remove 2.4 it also removed module something or antoher.
A few other thoughts on this message:
-I have USB 2.0 ports, not 1.0 what's up with that?
-Does the 'i810_audo: already loaded' mean that the audio should work with linux? becuase it doesn't
-the 'Si5513: already loaded', does this refer to my graphics? (which is made by SiS)

Anyways, if anyone can help me out with all this?? lol sorry
