kernel headers not installed correctly?

Yesterday, I installed the kernel 2.6.8-2 headers to install the nVidia drivers.
The nVidia drivers were installed, and configured and I are working perfectly fine. However, I tried to install alsa for sound, and I get an error when compiling of:
Code:
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.8-2-686/source: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [compile] Error 2
I goto /lib/modules/2.6.8-2-686/ and do "ls -l" I get this:
Code:
total 692
drwxr-xr-x   2 root root   4096 2006-09-25 03:30 boot
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root     35 2006-09-26 08:52 build -> /usr/src/kernel-headers-2.6.8-2-686

My home directroy is "/home/sitri/" so obviously this is wrong

To fix this error, I assume I need to link the "source" directory to something else...but to what?

NOTE:
I have installed the kernel-headers before for both 2.4 and 2.6 kernels. and they worked perfectly fine, however I reinstalled Debian yesterday morning and things are a tad off...

Alsa shouldn't be needed like that.

Just install alsa-base

Alsa-base doesn't work on my system.
Apparently intel8x0 cards aren't supported, even though according to the website, it is, and according to personal experience it is.
