well... you open up a terminal or go to a tty (such as tty1) and go to /etc/samba
type
vim smb.conf
and start editing...
if you have problems either man samba or man smb.conf you will find a lot of usefull info in these files, but generally smb.conf already holds some comments which can be helpful

perhaps kde is looking for smb.conf cannot find it and does not show samba - but i highly doubt that kde could be that bad! type 'whereis samba' and check where the executables are, if you cannof find them they might be in /usr/local/samba/bin
make a symlink into /usr/bin and restart kde

I'm compiling KDE so I cant restart it.
it is an problem in the configure stage
Hi DS1 can you please post the configure options gives you for samba proposes I think KDE is trying to find smbmount and it can't
Check if you can tell configure were samba is installed.
thanks but I fixed it, for some reason, when I compiled it from source kde didnt found libsmbclient, so I had to un install it and use the version thats in debian debs, install samba + dependecies, smbclient and libsmbclient (not that I wanted to do that, I prefer to compile from source).
