KDE Crashes during load with signal 4
Hello, I have just installed Debian and I am attempting to install KDE and GNOME. When I try to run KDE, it crashes during the load splash screen (Appears to do it while loading periphials) with "Fatal server error: signal 4 recieved". Just to make sure it was just KDE, I attempted to load GNOME and it worked fine with all periphials working fine (ie: mouse, keyboard). I have searched the forums and the web looking for an answer but have not come across an answer that worked and any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I had the same problem..
In my case the problem was DPMS (display power management signaling) You can try to edit /etc/X11/XF86config-4, there's a section called "monitor", just delete or comment line: Option "DPMS" My KDE works just fine after doing this..btw I'm using a laptop, so your problem may not be the same i was having.. |
Yup, that did the trick. Thanks alot! :D
