KDE 3.3 won't start after installation
Hello all!
After getting my desktop machine to run 2.6.8.1, I decided to take a look at KDE 3.3. I have sarge debian 3.02, and it came with KDE 3.2. After having apt-get install the 200+Mb of files for KDE 3.3, I logged out of X, issued the startx command, and it restarted KDE 3.2. I have been looking all over this site and google for what I file I need to modify to get the startx command to start KDE 3.3, but have had no luck. Thanks for your help, JimBass |
I don't use kde.
But after reading, it seems to me kde 3.2 is for sarge, and kde 3.3 is for sid. It says here you have to install a lib0 or something, read for yourself http://wiki.debian.net/?DebianKDE you can check with the boys at #debian-kde at the IRC on the Freenode server , before you do anything, for fresh info, but it seems to me you'll have to dist-upgrade to Sid. |
you can update your sources.list file to use unstable (sid) instead of testing (sarge) and do an "apt-get update" and then "apt-get dist-upgrade". that might update kde to 3.3, if it doesnt then do "apt-get install kde"
i think you can also leave your sources.list file alone and do "apt-get install kde-3.3" and it will do the same thing...i think |
