kcnontrol administrator mode not working

Hello, I am using KDE 3.4.1 and the administrator mode in kcontrol takes me back to the "KDE Control Center" welcome/about-my-computer page every time. I have been just editing config files for awhile but it would be really nice to have this back. Maybe it's a password/user problem? I anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thank you

Lawrence

That works except all the account-specific settings are for root, (backgrounds, themes, etc). I would realy like to fix the problem. Is that just a bug in KDE 3.4.x? I don't realy think so, because it used to work.

I've read about some people having the same problem so I suspect a bug.
Still, can't you run as user to change user settings and with kdesu to change the ones that need admin mode? Not very convenient perhaps but should work.
