kali linux copy paste of file and text is not working

i have changed gnome to Lxde environment in kali 2016.1 virtual box 5.2 and my host machine is ubuntu 2018 in this i have also changed to gnome to Lxde environment but in host there is no problem

After login to Lxde session... copy paste command is not working neither for file nor for text from one file to another file

If i select any text to copy it selects for 1- 2 sec nd nothing selects

Then i reverse back to gnome in kali but the problem remains same

i have tried various clipboard tools
xcfe4-clipman,
placletice...but nothing works

I google it but all the solution are related to host to machine copy nd vice versa... But my problem is kali linux internally copy paste...

plzz suggest the solution..

You need to give much more information, especially: what kind of VM is it (virtualbox?). What is your host OS?
What tools did you try to use to [check] copy/paste?

kali in a vm ... changing dekstop environments ... sorry, i just cannot take this seriously.

(go on mods, shackle me. i know it's ot, but i had to say it)

ondoho... thanks for the rply..

i have changed the desktop environment bcoz gnome consume a lots of RAM in comparison to Lxde..

i have only 4gb ram in which i have to run ubuntu 2018 as a host... in virtualbox kali and 1 windows os

nd it is not possible to run all this without changing the desktop environment

and right now i can't upgrade my ram.... soo i did this all

So you have 4 GB ram, an ubuntu host and 2 VMs ? Probably it is simply too much for Virtualbox.
Try to run only one VM (just to test)

It's going to be difficult getting help to troubleshoot this particular Linux distribution, running in a VM - especially considering that your problems are with the GUI, which could be due to known bugs or limitations.

There are plenty of installed GUI programmes which won't work on that distribution "as standard" because it runs the X session as root and those programmes don't support that by design. As the distribution is not designed for general usage, but very specifically for penetration testing / digital forensics, it's hardly surprising.

I suggest using a bootable live system, either optical media or USB flash based, instead if you want to make use of the tools it provides.

cybwulf thanks for the rply..

I know its hard to tell. i just wanted to know if there is any particular package which causing this problem so that i can refix that.

Or there may some additional tools which can solve this problem.

The solution is simple: don't use Kali. Their own website says it's for experienced/advanced Linux users, and even then only for security/network testing. NOT for daily use. What is your NEED for Kali? Because there is nothing it can do, that Ubuntu, Mint, or generic Debian can't do. As far as copying/pasting between the host and guest OS, there is a checkbox in the VirtualBox GUI that will enable this (sorry, don't have it in front of me now, but you should see it).

Also, you need to read the LQ rules about text-speak, and not using it.

I believe that's not the specific problem the OP was having:

You are indeed correct; I misread the initial post.

In my case it was the inbuilt 'clipit' had a history manager and it purges the history in 1 second.
