1. Instead of Prepend use Supersede. (man dhcilent.conf) Also check if you really need to change the DNS. My resolv.conf looks like this and is working fine:


2. Really strange problem.... Did you mess with the /usr directory?

3. More ways to fix this:

- Use XrandR to choose between available video modes. Use
dpkg-reconfigure -plow xserver-xfree86
to determine available video-modes. If you have messed with XF86Config-4 this won't work untill you have followed the instruction at the beginning of this file.

Using Xvidtune it is possible to determine the best ModeLine for your needs. The numbers from Xvidtune can be used as a ModeLine line in XF86Config-4 like this :

ModeLine PixelClock HDisplay HSyncStart HSyncEnd HTotal VDisplay VSyncStart VSyncEnd VTotal
Be careful, most modern monitors protect themselves against wrong settings, but older monitors can be destroyed by wrong settings.
