JDBC and MySQL Driver

Hello, I'm trying to work with JSP/JAVA and MySQL.
I've already installed and correctly configured Tomcat, J2re and MySQL, but I still can't connect to my database; i downloaded via apt the driver "libmysql-java" but it still complains that cannot find "com.mysql.jdbc.Driver".
So what's missing?
Must I configure something like CLASSPATH? Must I start some other specific services for the driver? Must I download the official mysql driver I found here?

Thank you a lot

Okay I think I found where debian put my driver: its location seems to be /usr/share/java/mysql-3.0.9.jar
So I made a symbolic link in $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext, and now the driver can be found

But I still cannot connect to my database... i receive a permission denied error or something similar (from JSP's output):
Code:
Exception: java.sql.SQLException: Unable to connect to any hosts due to exception: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission localhost resolve)
What's the matter now?

I noticed that with Java I'm able to connect (had to disable " --skip-networking " option form my.cnf) to the database, but not with JSP... with which I still get that error
