Issue with vqadmin and qmail (Perl/apache related)

Hi,

I'm following the qmailrocks guide. I'm at the point of installing vqadmin. The problem is vqadmin.cgi is throwing an internal error on my server.

I thought perl was mis configured until I learned I can execute other perl scripts fine from the same cgi-bin directory.

I dug in the error.log to see what was going on. Here's what I see:

[Thu Feb 22 12:19:36 2007] [error] Unrecognized character \\x7F at /var/www/cgi-bin/vqadmin/vqadmin.cgi line 1.\n

This is perl, v5.8.4 built for i386-linux-thread-multi
Server version: Apache/2.0.54

What's the contents of the line that gave the error? It says there is an unrecognised character in that line, there might be a typo of some kind.

Have you tried the qmr forum and mailing list?

The vqadmin.cgi file is either encrypted or encoded in some fashion. It's not a perl file but rather has contents like if you looked at any other binary. (On a system type cat /bin/ls for an example)

I'll head over to the QMR forums and see if they have any help to offer. I've tried the version of vqadmin that comes with the qmailrocks archive as well as using the vqadmin off of sourceforge. Both of them "compile" this file so it's hard to do any thoughtful troubleshooting.

If I have any luck there, I'll postback here.
