Issue with /etc/fstab

I am attempting to enable posix shared memory for an ati card and added the following line to my /etc/fstab file

tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0

After doing so I ran mount /dev/shm and got the following error.

[mntent]: warning: no final newline at the end of /etc/fstab

My entire /etc/fstab file looks like this

# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hda2 / reiserfs notail 0 1
/dev/hda5 /home reiserfs defaults 0 2
/dev/hdb1 /home/share reiserfs defaults 0 2
/dev/hdb2 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0
/dev/fd0 /media/floppy0 auto rw,user,noauto 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0

Thank you.

It looks like your mount device is looking for a new line at the end of your /etc/fstab. I did a little googling and found a few other people have had the same thing happen and the fix was to add a new line to the end of the /etc/fstab file. I did not go far enough in my googling to find out why. It appears to only effect certain systems/configs though. Just edit /etc/fstab and go to the end of last line, hit enter to create a new line, save the file and try it out.

Thank you. I am usually a bit better with googling but I travel a bit with my job and I was trying to fix it before I left. Patience is not one of my virtues...
