Is it possible to install GLIB 2.8+ on Lenny Stable?

I have a minimum install of 520mb, few packages. I would be for compiling interested by glib 2.8+
Glib is a big thing to install. Is it adviced, will it break the machine?

I can make a deb for lenny if you want.

so one need:
build-essential
make
gettext
libgettext-ruby-data
pkg-config
libncurses5-dev
Code:
./configure ; make ; make install
working
