Installing Debian 3.0 from a hard drive copy?

If I copy the first CD of a Debian Woody 3.0 set of CDs directly onto a hard drive, is there a simple way to install Debian onto this hard drive from the copy on the hard drive? If there is, maybe someone experienced in this method of installing Debian would like to post a reply here so it will be available for others to read, or else perhaps give a link to a simple description of this installation method on the internet. I did find one description on the internet but it was written for experienced users of Linux which many of us are not.
