Unhappy Installation Problem

I am trying to get Debian 3.0r2 running on my Toshiba Satellite 1110 Z-15 Notebook. Installing kernel 2.2 works fine, but in the end Xserver failes to start:

Fatal error:
no screens found (I configured graphics Hardware and screen in the installation process, and i am really sure that i have a screen)

Installing with "bf24" makes my System hang immediately.

I tried the the official netinstall-iso, but that one simply stops processing after checking for security updates while configuring apt. I still may reboot my system via Ctrl+Meta+Del, but nothing more.

I'm trying to use Debian for the first time ( ), and I'd really love to learn more about it. So has anybody ever had a problem like this and can help me?
