Installation of Debian Etch Live

I tried to install Debian Etch, but faild\ed to run the installation.
After a while I got the message
hda: lost interrupt
I tried some boot parameters that didn't work (although I'm sure I could try some more.
Today I downloaded the "Debian-Live-Etch-i386-kde-desktop"
This CD boots up well, so I tried to install this.
It mentions I can install it (install or installgui), but this isn't working.
Is there a way to install with Debian Live CD
Or are there any tips on installing Debian from the KDE boot CD.

Thanks a lot,
Flipje66

I remember trying the same thing and failing - however, if you already have a running (Linux) system, the Live CD can be remastered. However, this is not an all-too-trivial task. Also, make sure that you're using the Debian Live stuff for it (but you apparently have done so, so that shouldn't be an issue). Your main task would be to customize the Live CD to include the Debian installer either with or without GUI (I sincerely recommend the latter - it may not look as nice as the other one, but it works, and fast and well, too!). FAQ and Manpages are on Daniel's Debian Live site. They can take you there (which I for one couldn't do ) - if you use them, of course.

btw. You'd also have to make sure that you use the CD's system as a package source for the installer - I wouldn't know how to do that, but it would surely be very interesting. I didn't search the site yet, though... I also wonder what kept the netinstall from succeeding... Maybe it's doable all the same if we could get a bit more information?

I'd recommend using the regular Debian netinstall cd instead. The Live cd is great for sniffing Debian, but now you know what it is, use the recommended way to install it.

I must say that I agree with Dutch Master. In a nutshell, that's what my second paragraph above was all about

I tried the installation first with the "debian-40r1-i386-kde-CD-1.iso".
This one stopped booting after the message "hda: lost interrupt". hda is the cd, as far as I know (sda is the Harddisk on which I wanted to install).
So I tried the Live Cd later to see if this problem still existed, which wasn't the case, but I still can't install Debian. As I didn't think another installation CD would help I didn't try another.
