Install: Woody fails to detect card DFE-530TX (via-rhine)
Hi there,
I've spent the whole evening trying to get Debian Woody to work, at all. Actually, I'd like to upgrade to Sid, but as some of you may have guessed, it's not that easy with no internet connection.
Anyway, the thing is that the Woody installer refuses to work with my ethernet card (D-Link DFE-530TX), something about being unable to make use of the via-rhine module. It works flawlessly in Mandrake 9.1, though. I've searched through some mailing lists, and I've found out (I think) that my network card is incompatible with Woody's via-rhine module because of its PCI ID not being the same as older models.
I desperately need to get it to work, though... I wanted to give Debian a try for apt-get, but if I don't even have a net connection, I won't go far. Does anyone know how to remedy this problem?
Thanks in advance,

via-rhine driver
Hi,
As this post is several days old, did you find a fix? If not, and you are still trying to get it to work, have you tried or learned anything new?
I do not know a lot about this, but I will try to help if you are still at it.

I don't know if this will help, but Mepis is alive CD that allows you to install to the hard drive after booting into the KDE gui. It has excellent hardware detection, and eventually gives you a full debian install. Perhaps it's worth a try? www.mepis.org

I don't know if this could help, but i installed a DFE-530TX+ in my computer. when i installed debian i choose manually the net driver as a realtech xxx (don't remember, but the common chipset of the dlink stuff) and work just fine.
