IDE Raid controller and Debian
I have a computer with an ide ultra pci ata 133 controller (ite 8212)connected to a 120 GB hard drive. I have xp installed on it with 30 Gb free space left for linux. My problem is once I boot with the linux CD (Debian) in it it does not recognize the hard drive and says that this is a diskless workstation. I located the drivers for it, and Debian has an option for installing drivers from a floppy. But when I try to load the drivers (iteraid.o) it says....Syntax Error "(" load failed.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks |
looks like a script-error in the debain installer or some sort of mismatch with the floppy. isn't the driver for your raid on the first cd? or is this driver from a non-debian source?
afaik (at least woody-pre3) there where different (kernel)versions to boot from on the (bought) debain cd's. see if the other cd's are bootable and if so: there might be one with more/other drivers. if it's a failure in the debian-cd you may try another version of the deb-installer. you can get them via ftp from debain.org. sl mritch. |
I actually downloaded only the first CD. I got the drivers from http://www.ite.com.tw/productInfo/Download.html
I can try downloading the other cd's and install it off of that. I thought those cd's were packages and extras and thats why I did not download it. |
