Question I'm not sure what to tile this.configuration nightmares

I have debian 30r1 with woddy installed on a compact with intel celeron processor.Besides the fact that it is old I'm having problems with my os.For some reason my windows are larger than I think they should be.also the system clock is bouncing around the screen and everywhere it lands it leaves the time which after just a short while makes it rather difficult to navigate the gui.I have gnome and kde installed.Would some one please tell me how to fix this problem so i can get on with learning how to operate on this system please?

I've got no answer to the bouncing clock problem, but too large windows imply that you've chosen too small screen resolution. Change the screen resolution bigger and you get smaller windows. You should be able to do this by opening a terminal window, then using the "su" command to become SuperUser, and then typing "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86".

The version of Debian that you now have is pretty old, not ideal for desktop use. You might get a better system (possibly without bouncing clocks) if you try the new Sarge installer that gives you a newer version of Debian:
