HP Laptop hibernate/suspend/resume question

I m looking to get the laptop below. It seem sit will run Debian with few if any problems. My question is related to hibernating/suspend/closing the laptop. When I open the laptop again, how can I find out if it will cause problems on resume?

Take a copy of Knoppix and/or Ubuntu on CD/DVD with you, ask the salesguy to reboot from it and simply try :) If the salesguy doesn't want to cooperate, it's time to find another shop.

Good idea there

Great idea, but I have yet to find any distro that's fully functional with laptops out of the box.
Flip side: I I would think that most mainstream laptops can be made to work

Suspend almost always works without issues. It does on a brand new HP dv9820us.

As long as the motherboard supports it, linux can do it too.

Peace,
