Question Howto install Woody with latest kernel?

Hello,

I have just tried to install Debian "Woody" on my new nforce2 system (a7n8x deluxe).
While booting with bf24 I'm getting this error during cd-bootup
installation:

PCI_IDE unknown IDE controller on PCI bus 00 device 48
chipset revision 162
not 100% native mode: will probe irq later

then my computer hangs.

So I find out that I need a new kernel, but I have no idea how to install Woody with an other kernel than the ones one the CDs.

How can I install Woody with the newest kernel?

I there!

I managed to compile another kernel (2.4.21) in another machine (with debian) , and used the rescue floppy (bf 2.4) with my compiled kernel ("linux.bin"), and the original bf 2.4 root floppy to iniciate installation (following the rescue disk to boot).
These kernel have the AMD Viper Support (IDE/ATA/etc), and some other features enabled (see. http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17460).
But now I'm stucked !!!! When I went to install kernel and modules, I choose floppy0 (disk) put the rescue disk again as requested , but it keep saying that it can't mount the disk (and says it's the wrong disk).

Can anybody help me , I'm trying for 4 months now (getting tired)

P.S: Should the rescue disk have the kernel file in some specific directory (inside) (((

TIA

Rui

I think that when you boot the CD, at that boot menu you can get a help menu of some sort (maybe just typing 'help'?). Perhaps there it offers an option for using your own kernel?

If that's the case, you need to either compile a kernel on another system, or else find a pre-compiled one somewhere.

Let us know how it goes.
