Run base-config and change the timezone selection.

I would go with the second one "Configure Timezone".

Heh. Well, that's why I asked.
I ran base-config as su in a terminal and here are the options:

* Set up users and passwords
* Set the hostname
* Configure apt
* Select and install packages
* Exit the base system configuration
* Execute a shell

I was wondering why you would ask a question like that, what install do you have I get:

* Preconfigure language-related parameters
* Configure timezone
* Set up users and passwords
* Set the hostname
* Configure apt
* Select and install packages
* Postconfigure language-related parameters
* Configure the Mail Transfer Agent
* Exit the base system configuration
* Execute a shell

This on an AMD64 system with base-config 2.69 installed.

Code:

HappyTux:/home/stephen# apt-cache policy base-config
base-config:
  Installed: 2.69
  Candidate: 2.71
  Version Table:
    2.71 0
        500 http://amd64.debian.net unstable/main Packages
 *** 2.69 0
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
    2.53.10-0.0.0.1.pure64 0
        500 http://amd64.debian.net stable/main Packages

Seems weird that would differ that much but stranger things have happened. A person can always still use the tzconfig utility to do the same thing.

Mathsniper 09-07-2005 10:00 AM

tzconfig can't setup UTC. It always set CST before started up gdm....

And you have done what it suggests in the man page and set the UTC=yes in the /etc/default/rcS then made sure to go into your BIOS and actually set the time in there to what would be the correct UTC for you right now that would be IIRC +5 hours from the actual time on your watch.

Mathsniper 09-24-2005 11:29 PM

UTC have been equaled to "yes" in the /etc/default/rcS but It also startup CST mode. What's the matter with?

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 10:42 PM.
