How to vesa ?

I have intel 845GLLY motherboard which has onboard graphics (845G).

Lenny(5.0) is using "i810" driver.

xserver(GDM) crashes very often on login.
I mean, most of the times I end up without login screen or X.

I checked the xorg.conf file which has only entries like"configured device" "configured ...." ...

I tried
Code:

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
.But problems persists.

I have all the xserver-org packages installed in aptitude.

Is it possible to enable vesa driver for my hardware and How ?

I have heard people saying that they solved this problem by using vesa driver.

Thanking you.

Have you checked the /var/log/Xorg.0.log for errors (EE)? That may give you some indication as to what the problem is.
cheers,
jdk

Yes,I did. Since I have very least knowledge of linux,I could hardly understand the codes. I can post those Xorg.0.log if ask me to.

This appears to be a known bug. Compare the Xorg log and the xorg.conf shown with your own. You'll find the fix at the end of the article. That should sort things out for you.

in your xorg.conf file change your video driver to "intel" and see if that works
