How to see network packets sent/recieved


Hi,

How can I see how many packets/MiB sent to/from my pc?

Im using Debian Etch.

For a better and more graphical analysis fo what's going on in your network, have a look at http://www.ntop.org/

If you want to capture and analyse the packets in detail, Ethereal is a good packet sniffer.

iftop is also a great tool. It's like top, only it shows your bandwidth usage information on the specified network interface.

To install iftop, type "su" to become the root user and then type "aptitude install iftop" (and then hit Enter). Typing "man iftop" will show you how you can use iftop.
