How to run MS windows s/w on Debian

This is a frequently asked question, I know the solution is to install Wine, I did that but it won't work, I installed many things as stated in the WiKi but got stuck at the backports installation, it seems the links are wrong... it was trouble free on Mint and Ubuntu, what missing is a 'windows problem loader', that kick start the MS apps on Ubuntu but missing on Debian, any comment ?

Should be "windows program loader" haha !!

You will find it at virtualbox.org. It's free. Unlike wine, it is not a Windows emulator. You can install any version of 32-bit or 64-bit Windows as a client under it. That's actual Windows, the real thing. The limits are defined by the power and RAM in your PC.

Oh, it's completely free.

Three things to note: (1) You can have nultiple instancesc of clients running at once. And your host of course. But too much at once will have serious performance kickbacks. (2) Windows as a client is better protected than Windows on its own. That is at least partly due to the fact that the external world sees you as the host OS, not the client OS. (3) Windows 2k will install correctly to a large virtual drive if it is set up dynamically, as it starts small. The registry change to enable LBA 48-bit addressing can then be done to let the drive grow as more is added to it. This change is covered in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/305098

WiNE works most of the time, but it's far from perfect. Recently, a patch to add NINE acceleration via Mesa's nine state tracker boosted things considerably for speed, but you have a major drawback with how WiNE operates. It operates in "user mode" which means any software that relies on anything classed from Ring-0~2 which are kernel and administrative level execution layers, will not work with WiNE.

A good example is anti-hacking software many MMORPGs deploy.
