apt-get remove --purge libarts kdelibs
you may need to check if those packages have suffixes with
dpkg -l|grep libarts
dpkg -l|grep kdelibs

Let us know if it works. I'm thinking of doing the same thing with Sid. I want to remove KDE and than only have libs for other apps such as k3b or whatnot.

yes this works. But I remember that there was ever a more general solution to remove kde. Anyone can post it again?
