How to permanently disable lircd

Hi,

Debian 10 user here...

Yesterday, I noticed repeating messages in /var/log/syslog

Code:
Aug 16 17:51:10 oceanus lircd-0.10.1[699]: Error: No /sys/class/rc/ devices found
Aug 16 17:51:11 oceanus lircd[699]: lircd-0.10.1[699]: Error: No /sys/class/rc/ devices found
Aug 16 17:51:11 oceanus lircd-0.10.1[699]: Error: No /sys/class/rc/ devices found
Aug 16 17:51:12 oceanus lircd[699]: lircd-0.10.1[699]: Error: No /sys/class/rc/ devices found

Aug 16 17:51:13 oceanus lircd[699]: lircd-0.10.1[699]: Error: No /sys/class/rc/ devices found

Aug 16 17:51:14 oceanus lircd-0.10.1[699]: Error: No /sys/class/rc/ devices found
Aug 16 17:51:15 oceanus lircd[699]: lircd-0.10.1[699]: Error: No /sys/class/rc/ devices found
Aug 16 17:51:15 oceanus lircd-0.10.1[699]: Error: No /sys/class/rc/ devices found
Aug 16 17:51:16 oceanus lircd[699]: lircd-0.10.1[699]: Error: No /sys/class/rc/ devices found
Aug 16 17:51:16 oceanus lircd-0.10.1[699]: Error: No /sys/class/rc/ devices found

Aug 16 17:51:17 oceanus lircd-0.10.1[699]: Error: No /sys/class/rc/ devices found
I used `systemctl` to stop and then disable the lircd service, but every time after I reboot my computer, it's re-enabled.

This is the output when I disable it:

Code:
root@oceanus:~# systemctl disable lircd
Synchronizing state of lircd.service with SysV service script with /lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install.
Executing: /lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install disable lircd
insserv: warning: current start runlevel(s) (empty) of script `lircd' overrides LSB defaults (2 3 4 5).
insserv: warning: current stop runlevel(s) (0 1 2 3 4 5 6) of script `lircd' overrides LSB defaults (0 1 6).
insserv: warning: current start runlevel(s) (empty) of script `lircd' overrides LSB defaults (2 3 4 5).
insserv: warning: current stop runlevel(s) (0 1 2 3 4 5 6) of script `lircd' overrides LSB defaults (0 1 6).
How can I *really* disable the lircd service, so it won't start every time I boot my computer?

Have you tried just uninstalling it? Itís just giving an error because you donít have IR capabilities (or drivers maybe?)

try "mask" instead of "disable".
