How to Kick Gnome off?

I would like to reinstall my GNOME desktop.
1.How do I kick it off?
2.How do I get it back on?

I suspect both answers will use apt-get, ok but what packages?\

tnx 4 all help,

I believe
$ apt-get install gnome-desktop-environment
should do.
If you's like to remove all you settings in GNOME you should run
# rm -fr $HOME/.gnome $HOME/.gnome2 $HOME/.gnome-desktop

Good luck
