Wheezy was frozen yesterday so I would say it is safe to upgrade from Squeeze but you will get a lot of updates as it settles in. Xfce4 4.10 works very well in Wheezy altho some bugs have been reported but not much. I used it for several weeks in Wheezy until KDE 4.8 came out.
