a) I installed midnight commander few minutes ago without problem
b) I am connected via LAN

My assumption would be (like MC), no CDROM is asked but everything is loaded from the net.

Can somebody help ?

Edit: solved. I just had to review the options of the package manager and click out the search on CD ROM. It find now the debian server. open topic: why it was ok with mc and not with wicd? not so important.

Just a guess, but perhaps it is because WICD is on the installation disc you used, but MC is not. Your system probably knows what packages are on the disc, which was included as one of your repositories, until you removed it. I may be (probably am?) wrong, but that is my idea.
