How to get started ?

Hi,

I used Linux actually for a while, but all the distributions made it too easy on me.. As SuSE 9.2 came out and it even needs a reboot after EVERY bloody installation (like Windows) I decided to use something better.

As I have a few gameserver and the lease is running out I decided to rent some dedicate server.

The only thing is : They are running Debian Woody in minimal configuration.

I asked them to install LAMP and WEBMIN for me but serious, it was more difficult than a minmal image. Why ? I did not find anything at all .. Thats the probplem if you don;t install yourself

So, I decided now to get a minmal installation... not even the command "ftp" works

I think thats the best way to learn a new OS.

BUT : Is there a good resource ? I mean yeah, there are a lot of websites, but currently I have only one Pc and I don't want to go to my flat m8 PC everytime I have a question ...

Is there a good book you can suggest which gets me started with every basic on Debian ? Like a Dummy ?

Thanks guys ...

Michael

Yeah, but as I said, I'd rather have a decent book as I don't have internet all the time I am on the Debian PC ...

On the page referred to you, there is a link to "printed books".
If you can read French there's a book there by a French leading Developper
which I read from cover to cover : it is an awesome book. Comes with Sarge rc 3.1
included.
Perhaps you didn't notice the link above when you clicked on the previous poster's link...
