how to create a portal?

hi, i got a DSL connection and i would like to offer my spare pc as a web server for some pages. i would like to have a main page, as a portal, and then host another 5 pages. the problem is that i do not know the procedure. could someone point me somewhere so i could start?

you probably want to set-up a LAMP server: linux, apache, mysql, php and maybe perl...

you'll also probably be interested in the services these folks offer, so that you can assign a domain name to your home ip address:
