hi friend,
Firstly, you have to figure which dialup modem you have, so that we can advise how to configure it. Unfortunately, a great deal of modern modems, known as 'winmodems', work poorly on linux, or not at all.
There are two resources on modems that you might want to be aware of:

- www.linmodems.org. Read the 'rationale' part, and run the scanmodem tool, a lot of info will come out of it.

- the hcl (hw compatibility list) from linuxquestions. This is www.linuxquestions.org/hcl. Maybe someone has already succeeded.

Regarding win drives, how are they connected to the machine and which filesystems do you have installed?
