Dead Parrot: Your links are great. thanks! I solved the X startup problem with xf86config -textmode (ncurses interface). It works now. There was an old onboard videocard on the PC and this has prevented the configure script of Debian from proper configuration.

macondo: Your thread is excellent and is really helpful, but you can provide your help without some unfriendly comments, right? It's not simpler to hack, nor I am the guy who will dig in the system to hack here and there just for the fun. I am perfectly happy with my Slack, but when I have the time I will install debian on my own PC, and your guide will be the first to read.

I'm the one who should apologize, but when i see slackers screwing everything up, ignorant to the core about Debian, and doing things a certain way because that's the way it's done in Slack, and then complaining that it's not working right, it irks me.

This is not the case here, and i apologize to you if i sounded unfriendly, or belligerent.
