how to add panel in gnome debian wheezy?

I have Debian Wheezy with Gnome installed.
I am trying to add panel.
but
Alt + Right Click on panel's space area = nothing appears.
also Right Click on panel's space area = nothing appears.

I am missing something?

I had the same problem for a few days.
Run "Advanced Settings" (I think this is "gnome-tweak-tool), and click on the "Shell Extensions" section.
You can then slide any existing extension as "ON".

I wanted the mail-notification, system monitor and weather panels - but ended up using the ones from https://extensions.gnome.org/
The system monitor from that page crashes my gnome, so I still haven't found a good one to install in the top panel yet. I ended up install gnubiff.

of couse, I did.
but...
I don't find any extension concerned with panel.
and also I tested all of them on/off in Advanced Setting --> Shell Extension.
but...
All doesn't work.

mshlinux 05-26-2013 10:21 AM

these are all I have in Advanced Setting --> Shell Extensions :
Quote:

Install Shell Extension
Alternative Status Menu Extension
User Themes Extension
AlternateTab Extension
Auto Move Windows Extension
Workspace Indicator Extension
Dock Extension
Places Status Indicator Extension
Native Window Placement Extension
SystemMonitor Extension
Gajim IM integration Extension
Removable Drive Menu Extension
windowNavigator Extension
Applications Menu Extension
Please, anyone check if I am missing something.

Did you read what Hangaber wrote regarding gnome-tweak-tool?

The Shell Extensions you listed are part of the "gnome-shell-extensions" package.

What are you looking for ... an alternate launcher menu that you can edit, some quick-launch icons on your panel, or something else?
If so - check out the gnome extensions website I mentioned above. There is probably an extension to suit your needs, and they will integrate with your "gnome-tweak-tool" settings.

Note: I'd recommend writing down which extensions you like enabled. In the event that a particular extension causes an issue, Gnome may disable *all* your extensions.

first, sorry for my careless reading and lack of basic knowledge about Gnome.

I understood this:

that I just need to go
Advanced Setting >> Shell Extensions and make any "ON".

that you are just saying about yourself in friendly manner.

thank for your this fully explanation:

. it is the basic knowledge I needed before posting here.

that he/she can't be patient or even angry with my continuous posts.

so,
sorry for that.

Hi,

it looks like you need to install the gnome-tweak-tool package.

Evo2.

I can't install extensions from www.extensions.gnome.org.
on that site, I made "ON", the message "Do you want to download and install this extension" appeared.
I clicked on "Install". that's all. then nothing appears and never install extension I tried.
that may be because of my Gnome version. it is 3.4.2, just I think.

now, the solution for me is this:
http://verahill.blogspot.com/2012/06...in-debian.html

Hangaber 05-27-2013 01:13 PM

I'm also using Gnome v3.4.2, although I am using google-chrome. Maybe that is why the website works for me. (Update: It works for me in iceweasel too.)
When I first visited the site, I was asked to install the browser extension plugin.

When you clicked "ON" for the extension you wanted, it should have extracted in to;
~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/

mshlinux 05-27-2013 08:56 PM

oh! really?
thz for ur information.
I'd try again.

mshlinux 05-28-2013 09:41 AM

I tried with both of Iceweasel and Chromium. my browsers have Gnome Integration plugins enabled.
and also I tried with "No Proxy" in browser's network setting and "None" in Gnome's network setting.
But I can't install them.

So, I reported bug about that and a matainer resent an email like this:
Quote:

Hi, I'm the maintainer for Remove Accessibility. Sadly, I can't help you with your problems with the Gnome Shell, first of all, because, well I'm not a maintainer of that project and I don't know any of the common bugs and problems. You should have more luck asking in a gnomeshell IRC channel. Surely, you can find someone there to help you
well, that's all. Done!

btw, could you please do me a favour.
I needs some extensions. they are
-Remove Universal Access
-Media Indicator
-Panel setting

if it is possible, copy them from your ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions directory,
compress them as .tar.gz and send to my email msh2nfrou@gmail.com

I need them and I want to test them by manually installation.
only if it is possible, do as I say.
or otherwise, it's ok. just forget it. :)

Hangaber 05-28-2013 12:04 PM

Sent.

https://extensions.gnome.org/extensi...yer-indicator/ - Works for me
https://extensions.gnome.org/extensi...-accesibility/ - Works for me (I had this one already)
https://extensions.gnome.org/extensi...anel-settings/ - Failed "ERROR". I sent it anyway.

You can download some of these extensions from the "Extension Homepage" (if they have one).
For example; if you go to "Panel Settings" on the gnome extensions website, it has a listed 'extension homepage' as https://github.com/eddiefullmetal/gn...ell-extensions
Then, if you go to that site, click on "zip" and you can obtain the extension and additional files.

mshlinux 05-28-2013 07:40 PM

ok, thz
i appreciate ur help.
