How am I assign applications from directory to aptitude?
hi friends

I have an offline debian lenny pc.When I installing debian system to pc,debian scan 5 addition debian dvds. After installing I copied all packages from debian dvds to in /mnt/storage/apt/ directory and create shortcut of applications to in /var/cache/apt/archives/ , because I do not like to use dvds for application install each time.I used to work without any problem until yesterday.

Yesterday I install again debian lenny and I did not scan dvds when debian want scan additional dvds. After install I copied again shortcuts to in /var/cache/apt/archives/ but now when I want install an application, as usual I use "aptitude search psycopg2 " command but aptitude not find any application. I need to go install manually from folder with "dpkg -i <packagename>" from directory. I saw synaptic > edit > Add cd-rom options.I think that options assign packages synaptic to names and the package stay on which dvd.

I want that aptitude work with /mnt/storage/apt/ directory.

How am I do it ?

Do can I told my problem to you ?

thanks for helping

I'm not sure if I fully understand what your problem is, but the following approach (exact details could be wrong) should work.

You can create a local repository with dpkf-scanpackages and then add an entry to your sources.list

Create repo:

dpkg-scanpackages  /mnt/storage/apt/ | gzip -c > /mnt/storage/apt/Packages.gz
Add to your sources.list:

echo "deb file://mnt storage apt" >> /etc/apt/sources.list
And don't forget to run 'aptitude update'.
