Help Needed for taking screenshot

Hi,

I want to take a screenshot of my desktop along with the menus and submenus open...

Printscreen doesn't work with the menus open. Any other clues please??

Thanks & Regards

If you're not using KDE, I don't know.

If you are using KDE, then you can use the KSnapshot program.

It should be in your K menu under Graphics, but you can also use Alt-F2 and then type ksnapshot.

If you want to use the keyboard in KDE, the keyboard shortcuts are configurable. I think the defaults are:

Alt-PrntScrn for a screenshot of the current window
Ctrl-PrntScrn for a screenshot of the current screen

You can see what these are on your computer by using the Control Center, and going to Regional & Accessibility, then Keyboard Shortcuts. Look under System, Miscellaneous, and you will see what they are. Feel free to change them if you want.

I suspect that gnome-screenshot is what you want; try gnome-screenshot --help for some quick assistance.

I have gimp installed and this is also working just similar to Pint Screen way of taking screenshot. This also doesn't work when the Application Menu is open..

I want the snapshot of my desktop with the Application Menu and its submenu open...

Any other ideas please??

So Gimp isn't working? That's odd..I would have thought it works if you set it to take a timed screenshot, say 10 seconds after pressing the button, and during those 10 seconds you opened all the menus you like. I'm nearly 98% sure I've done that myself with Gimp..

So you're basically claiming that a timed Gimp screenshot closes all your menus before taking the shot?

hi all,i have nice solution for that..

do u small shell script like this:

for i in 1
do
sleep 10
import -window root image.jpg
done

save as ss.sh.and run it terminal by $bash ss.sh
so u wanna to open a app munu.well now open it.sub menu's also.
NOTE:everything should be done within 10 sec.
The "import -window root image.jpg" will capture your entire Desktop will save it in image.jpg file..
now u r Ready to open ur image.jpg & check.

Change ur 'sleep $second' to ur wish.

hope this helps.

Other method:

Code:
sleep 10 && xwd -root -out /tmp/shot && convert /tmp/shot /tmp/shot.png
For convert, you need imagemagick.
Xwd is present if you have an X client.
