HELP: Choose motherboard for Debian 3.1r1a

Hi All:

I want to buy a new computer and install the latest Debian in it.

My concern is:

1. Using the SATA Harddisk
-- that means activate the SATA function of the system chipset
2. No extra patches needed
-- that means install the Debian as if using the ordinary PATA harddisk (no extra steps needed)

The following system chipsets are my choices:

Intel 975
Intel 955
Intel 945
Intel 925
Intel 915

Pls. HELP. Which one is o.k.?

Thanks.

If you want to use Debian pure instead of Ubuntu, Sarge will probably only support the oldest of those chipsets (Sarge uses a 2.6.8 kernel). If you're willing to use Etch (testing) or Sid (unstable), some of the later hardware may be supported because the kernel is newer. Not sure exactly what kernel they're up to in Etch, but I think it's 2.6.15...

sarge also can..am running sarge with backports.org kernel and other packages (linux-image-2.6.15...etc).so dont worry about Debian...get the latest hardware;it'll eventually be supported...
