help- aptitude undo?

Help, I think I have made a major boo-boo.
I was trying to install mysql-query-browser on debian sarge using aptitude but the F10 key is unfortunately right above the - key. I think something might have gotten accidentally marked for deletion rather than installation (even though I'm pretty sure it was Green and not Red before I pressed g).

I tried to run the install but it started removing a lot of stuff. Then it said ...
You are running a kernel (version 2.6.8-2-686-smp) and attempting to remove
the same version. This is a potentially disastrous action. Not only
will /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.8-2-686-smp be removed, making it impossible to boot
it, (you will have to take action to change your boot loader to boot
a new kernel), it will also remove all modules under the directory
/lib/modules/2.6.8-2-686-smp. Just having a copy of the kernel image is not
enough, you will have to replace the modules too.

I repeat, this is very dangerous. If at all in doubt, answer
no. If you know exactly what you are doing, and are prepared to
hose your system, then answer Yes.
Remove the running kernel image (not recommended) [No]? no
dpkg: error processing kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686-smp (--remove):
subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

Even though I said NO, it started removing more things. Everything ended with the message:
Errors were encountered while processing:
kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686-smp
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Ack! Something bad happened while installing packages. Trying to recover:
Press return to continue.

Then aptitude didn't show the Undo option as available.

Help! Can I revert to the state before all of this began? I thought aptitude could do that? I haven't closed aptitude yet...

Thanks enormously for any help you might be able to provide.

Search for the kernel package and re-install. Or, if you know the exact name of that package, use apt-get to satisfy dependencies.
